Muscle Biopsy: Fresh or Frozen?
Although there is a link between mitochondrial disease and autism, there is still confusion over the best approach to diagnose mitochondrial disease. Muscle biopsy has been used for many years to definitively diagnose a mitochondrial disorder; however, new methods of testing are emerging, such as blood test for genetic defects and buccal swab testing.
