Hi everyone! I went to the pedi surgeon yesterday and his recomendation was to have a fundoplication to try to fix the vomitting which he thinks is from reflux. He does not want to put a j tube in for fluids. Has anyone had a fundoplication? I am going back to see him April 13 to discuss to surgery but I would appreciate it if anyone new anything about fundoplicatoins.  I also suffer from migrains and dysautonomia which cause me symptoms daily. No one has a solution for those issues. If you have any suggestions please let me know I am going crazy here and no one seems to understand!

Hi Both my girls have had

Hi Both my girls have had fundoplications for severe reflux. And so has my hubby. The girls lives were transformed dramatically by the surgery, they also had G tubes placed at the same time. Rosie had life threatening aspirations several times a week before her fundo and was in cosntant pain...much more than we ever realised I think. She changed so much and went from being a rag doll to a totally interested in life little girl. For Eve it was different, but still a dramatic change she went from tolerating minmal feeds barely keeping her alive to gaining weight. her pain was seriously reduced too. I would really recomend listening to the surgeon if they think this is the right move. David, my Hubby sufffered for years with gastric pain...no one really knew what caused it or what would help. Eventually we insisted they tested for reflux and he indeed had severe unremitting reflux. We opted for the Fundoplication for him and although it has been a trade off it is one he is very glad he made, He does suffer with bloating and is not able to eat large meals...but does not have the severe unremitting pain he had previously. Hope that helps!

Before the drastic measure

Before the drastic measure ,have you tried the Digestive Enzymes? They cured 30 years of delayed gastric emptying, with the reflux, vommiting, pain and bloating for me! They have changed my life. Why do the doctors not tell us about them? I used to get migraines, but i relate them to hormonal. My thyroid went first, then from about 18 years old my cycles would come and go, for years at a time. When i was put on hormone replacement therapy, i actually had a migraine for 21 days straight. As soon as i threw out the medicine, i was fine. The endocrine system seems to be affected in alot of mito patients. Have they checked this out for you? The digestive enzymes, for tummy part and electrolytes for allowing us to absorp more water through the kidneys,( we pee most of it out) are the 2 major things i have done that has changed my world dramatically.Drink twice the water you normally do when you have a migraine, it could be a cause also. Sorry to hear you are going through this, keep your chin up! hugs, jan
