Heart Rate and Fatigue

One of the most helpful tips in the mito exercise guide was to keep your heart rate around 60% of maximum when exercising. For me this is around 120 bpm. I basically just had to work to make sure it didn't go any faster than 120. It really seemed to help me keep from getting overly fatigued. I noticed that when I was more tired I had to walk a lot slower to keep my heart rate from going too high. I have been tired enough that I haven't been able to exercise for about 2 months now. I'm planning on keeping track of my heart rate for a few days just to make sure I'm not making my heart work really hard doing things like getting dressed (uh, me getting dressed, not my heart). Has anyone done this? Does it help energy levels to move REALLY slowly to keep the heart happy? Just curious!

I borrowed a heart rate

I borrowed a heart rate monitor for 24 hrs. to make sure I wasn't doing a bad job of checking my heart rate. Most of the day I am between 70-120 bpm, which is what I am going for. The only thing is that when I am cleaning up in the morning my heart stays right around 170. While it is very convenient to get high intensity exercise by putting on a t-shirt and washing my face, etc. I don't like how it can take me most of the day to recover. Does anyone have tips on how to lower heart rates in general? Anyone with ideas on how to make getting ready in the morning easier?

Hi Becky,...... the only thing I can think of to make washing up in the morning use less energy is to; Sit on a chair while washing in the sink, I even have a shower chair. I've been slumped in a chair now for 2wks, How do I get energy back?, I can't even hold my eyes open:( I drink so much water, there are times it feels as if I'm drowning........God Bless...Lori:)

Try drinking a lot of fluids before getting out of bed in the morning. I find that helps me sometimes :)

So, Thanks to a couple of

So, Thanks to a couple of you, I asked one of my doctors if he thought I might have POTS. Turns out I do! haha Anyway, the funky heart rate, probably the dehydration, and maybe the cold intolerance are because my autonomic nervous system isn't working properly. The first thing I have been told to do is to consume 1/4 tsp. of salt per liter of water I drink daily. I haven't really been consuming much salt at all, and since I drink so much water, it is a big change. The big thing I'm hoping is that I'll get more hydrated. I think if that happens my summers will be more pleasant! Anyway, just wanted to update!
