i just wanted  to see how others deal with living with mito? i can share  my hobbies  on Mondays i do theraputic horse back riding ; this helps stretch my aching muscles.  On Tues. i take my lab puppy to puppy kindergarten( of couse she won't be a puppy forever) her name is Mito!  During the summer my husband found me a community boating program, for disabled people. I get to sail a sail boat up & down the charles, for an hour, my husband, plans it so that after spending a trying day at mass general I get to unwind in a sail boat i love it. Living with Mito as we all know is depessing, so having these things, helps me deal. Mark also started going kyaking with me, he's great.

When I have been in my most

When I have been in my most sedentary mode ... I collected stones on the beach ... I live near Lake Michigan ... and then I created things like stone houses and I made a bird feeder. It was very creative and 'time consuming' ... fun. I have some executive function problems so I also play solitaire, free cell, bejeweled and other scanning and sorting games. I have trouble will crossword puzzles, although they are a really good exercise for the brain. I still enjoy riding a bike in the summer, I have enjoyed that the past few summer. I can ride on the flats and we have a "TART Trail" or Rail Trail near our house that I like to go to. On Wednesdays and Friday's morning I ride with girl friends, it is my social outlet, they have been real supportive since my onset and very encouraging. I'd love to sail or go kayaking but I'm not sure I have the upper body strength and endurance for those activities.

I have really enjoyed

I have really enjoyed listening to audio books on my ipod. It is particularly nice on days when lifting a book seems daunting. On better days I enjoy cross stitching gifts for people while listening. I'm also learning Chinese on my computer. My favorite activity is going for a stroll/roll (I do the rolling) around parks. This last one is almost two hobbies as figuring out how to stay warm or cool requires a lot of creativity! The best part about the walks is that my boyfriend considers wheelchairs allterrain vehicles. He has gotten my chair covered in mud, we've gone "ice skating" with it, and sometimes he rides on the back down a hill while I steer with the wheelchair breaks!

Hi, Thank-you for sharing your hobbies! all sounds great keep it up, The kayaking your right takes to much upper body strength I can't do it myself, my husband likes to get me out that way, he paddles, you could definitely Sail though, great release' though sometimes, using the rutter, makes my forearm hurt. I like the way you have fun with your wheel chair, I don't think I have heavy duty tires. My driving stinks too, I go all over the place. I better learn, we just found out my husband's A.A.A. needs repaired.I'm sharing that information here, because I'm scared to death:( a A.A.A. is an aortic abdominal aneurysm.Life is scary. Make snow Angles makes you laugh:)...................................Hope &Positive thoughts!.......Lori:)

I play board games and roleplaying games. That is the max of my energy. I have trouble sitting up in chairs for long.
