My son is 20 years old and was recently diagnosed with MERRF.  He has pain in his shoulder as well as pain/weakness in his knees.  He has done physical therapy and exersise but it has not been helpful in relieving the pain.  Has anyone seen any studies or research on the benefits of massage therapy or acupuncture to help with pain management?  Could it help with pain management?

Thank you,

Mike

Hi Mike, I have tried both message therapy and acupuncture both. Both work; I found that message helps me only while I'm getting the message, though sometimes it would last a few days. I was going once a week. You need to make sure to drink lots of water after a message. Acupuncture helps too, Some insurances will cover this too.It can get costly.......I hope I was of some help...God Bless, Lori:)

Thank you Lori - We are
