Has anyone actually gotten a dx from a skin biopsy?  Machaiah had his done on July 2 so we still have months to wait for results.  We don't hold out high hope that we'll get any answers since we're used to not getting any...LOL.  I just hope it was worth putting him through.

Yes, We did the s.b. in Jan. and we found out in early April that our son has complex 1. I am so glad we did it. As a parent you don't want to have to put your children thru any of these tests, yet you want to HELP THEM. So hang in there because one day you will get an answer. It just takes finding the right Person (weather doctor or parent) that is going to recognize it. Just recently we attend a conference about Mito and thru taking to another couple relized our son also might have EE. Know, 3 gasto doctors later we found out he does have it.

i dont have any kind of experience about skin biopsy i have little knowledge about that which i want to share "A skin biopsy is a procedure in which a sample of skin tissue is removed, processed, and examined under a microscope". Several different methods may be used to obtain a skin sample, depending on the size and location of the abnormal area of skin, called a skin lesion. The skin sample is placed in a solution, such as formaldehyde, or in a sterile container if infection is suspected. In each of these procedures, the tissue is processed and then examined under a microscope.
