Is It The Cocktail?

Hello fellow Mito-Fighters!

I have a question....Our son Teddy (age 8, Complex III/MELAS) has been on the cocktail since January. Yesterday, he had a drs appointment to address his scoliosis. This too was discovered in January. Not much direction was given to us at the time, other then we added another dr to the team. However, we put our son in the pool twice a week, and started the cocktail. And lo and behold yesterday they declared his scolisosis to be MUCH improved. At first I knew it was the swimming, and moving inthe pool, but then I had to think about things, and thought, could the cocktail be helping him, and giving his muscles more structure?

I would love to hear if any other parent has seen this in their child....I am cautiously excited over this.

My son was 10 months and was even really able to hold his head up, it when then when we found out he had a carnitine def. he was given carnitine and Therapy and with in 3 months he was able to everything even walk. He still had muscle weakness and some other issues so we had the biopsy done in jan. It came back that he has Complex 1 def. We started CoQ10 and riboflavin in April and now he has more energy. He is 2 now and still tires easily, taking 4 to 5 hour naps durning the day. So it wasn't the cure all but it definately made a difference in his life.

Good results for us

We had great results from the cocktail. My son showed great improvement in his fine motor skills and his muscles. He is hypotonic but it was severe and is now mild. He is talking in 4-5 word sentences and before the cocktail he didn't talk. He only new maybe 3 words. His energy shot up too. So for us it has been wonderful.

Our granddaughter was diagnosed with mito at age 12 a year ago. A few months ago her mito doc prescribed 400 mg Co-Q-10 per day and said he would be increasing the dose. He called the "prescription" in to our local Walmart pharmacy and the pharmacist had the co-q-10 waiting for us behind the counter but it was the same Co-Q-10 that I've been taking for years that's available on the shelf but have always wondered if there was another brand or type that was more effective. I've read that Ubiquinol is better. I'm asking for thoughts from everyone with any experience with Co-Q-10 if there is one better form, or one better brand than another? How about Q-Gel? We want to see she gets the best thing for her.

Hi Mito grandma, I have been looking for the Ubiquinol also, I believe it is not on the market yet.?? At least not in Canada. In the meantime i take the gel cap form. Did he write it as a perscription so that it can be written off on your medical expences perhaps?
