A Note From the Author
Dear Reader,
Thank you for selecting "When Jeremy Jones’ Stomach Stopped Working: A Story for Children with G-Tubes"! I originally wrote this book for my son who had a g-tube placed when he was 3. I hope that you enjoy this book and find comfort in its story.
The illustration, publishing, and distribution of "When Jeremy Jones’ Stomach Stopped Working" is a free service supported and funded entirely by the Mitochondrial Disease Action Committee (www.mitoaction.org). Mitochondrial disease is the name given to dozens of progressive incurable disorders that affect cellular energy production. The mitochondria in individuals with mitochondrial disease fail to produce enough energy to sustain cell and organ function. Although many children with mitochondrial disease require g-tubes, other children need them for a variety of reasons. We hope that this book will speak to your child regardless of the reason behind the need for the g-tube.
I am forever grateful to the Mitochondrial Disease Action Committee for making a dream come true for me and for helping thousands of children cope with their "foodie-tubie" (as my son calls it).
Programs such as Jeremy Jones are made possible by your donations. Please visit our website to learn more about how you can contribute.
Enjoy!
