About the Speaker


Claire Held, was born in 1990; 2 & 1/2 months early weighing 4 lbs. She was in and out of Seattle Children’s ER 56 times before the age of 1 yr. and diagnosed with LCHADD at 20mo. by a muscle biopsy sample. In addition, she was AirLift Northwest poster child in 1991. Even with a rough start Claire continues to have an amazing life filled with health, travel, living independently and spending time with friends and family. She received a Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2014 from Central Washington University. She has been privileged enough to work collaboratively with OHSU to create a cookbook and is currently working independently on new recipe development for those living with LCHADD. After a 4-year stint at the Seattle VA working for the director of Nutrition and Food Services – Claire has returned to school and is currently in a master’s program at Seattle University.
