My son Love is 24 years old and was born nine weeks premature. He had major brain injuries at birth and we were given no hope that he would survive. It was said that Love would be one year, then two years, then five years. At the age of six, they stopped guessing and began to find out what everything might have been, so, at age six, we find out that Love has a mitochondrial disease. We have had to fight all of Love’s life for his right to live, above all the right to a good life. Today, Love lives with personal assistance around the clock and will soon move from home to his first own apartment. Love is a warrior who has taught me to live life to the fullest every day and not take anything for granted.
