About the Speaker
Dr. Boys is Director of the Division of Clinical Neurosciences and an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics. He is a Pediatric Neuropsychologist who completed his PhD in Educational Psychology at the University of Minnesota. He also completed his clinical internship and post-doctoral fellowship in Pediatric Neuropsychology at the University of Minnesota Medical School.
His current clinical interests include: neuropsychological assessment of learning disorders and neurodevelopmental disorders, psychological aspects of and adjustment to chronic medical illness (e.g.cystic fibrosis, diabetes, PKU); developing adherence and self-care in children/adolescents with chronic illness, consultation within health care settings; behavioral and developmental disorders (e.g., language impairments, dyslexia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder); and fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.
Research interests include: neurodevelopmental outcome of high risk and premature neonates; investigating the neuropsychological profile of early and continuously treated phenylketonuria; investigating neurocognitive and executive functions in Muscular Dystrophy and Myotonic Dystrophy; and developing a novel model of coordinated school healthcare for medically fragile and chronically ill children.
Dr. Boys is a member of the American Psychological Association, the International Neuropsychological Society, the National Academy of Neuropsychology, and the National Association of School Psychologists. Dr. Boys is a member of the Training Committee for the University of Minnesota Medical School Psychology Internship Training program.
