Tips for Communicating with Medical Professionals

Clear communication between the patient, caregivers, and medical providers, as well as among the physicians, nurses and therapists who make up the patient's care team, is critically important to the management of mitochondrial disease.  Open lines of communication and strong documentation of medical decisions also help patients and families to avoid allegations of Munchausen's Syndrome or Medical Child Abuse.
